Peter leads workshops in physical comedy and clowning with any students curious to develop the comedian within—students range from seasoned professional actors, to teens, to young kids.
He feels that anyone with a sense of humor has the ability to play comedy. Some people are “naturals”... and then there’s the rest of us who have to learn the old fashioned way. By learning. Some say that comedy can’t be learned—you just have to be born funny. Peter disagrees. All one needs is a sense of humor. Just like discovering to play an instrument, comedy technique can be learned and one’s inner sense of humor can become manifest through exploration and training . . . and no matter what level one is at, it can be developed further.
His classes are fun, nurturing and explorative. Setting an atmosphere of playfulness and ease, he asks students to stretch out and fill their “biggest selves” bravely, honestly and joyously. He entices students to openly share the gift that is themselves—and their humor—with each other and with the world. In other words, he helps the clown stuff inside his students to come out and play.
Workshops and classes vary in length, depending on a group of students’ needs. A quick workshop can be as short as 90 minutes, a fuller workshop can be 8-12 hours over two or three days. More comprehensive exploration into character, technique and structure, as well as the development of original pieces can be explored in a longer term schedule.
